3. Getting to know your instrument
The MPE 70 paraffin bath brings paraffin wax to melting point.
Dry and chapped hands, feet or elbows are submerged repeatedly for short periods of time into
thewarmliquidparaffinwaxandthenremovedagain.Thiscausesathinlayerofwaxtoform
aroundtheaffectedpartofthebody,overwhichasheetisadditionallyplaced.Thewarmthof
theparaffinwaxopenstheporesoftheskinandmoistureescapes.Thelayerofwaxpreventsthe
moisture from escaping. Instead, the moisture enters the opened pores and penetrates deep into
the skin, where it is absorbed. This makes skin especially soft and smooth. After an exposure time
of20minutes,theparaffinwaxcanberemovedfromtheaffectedbodyparts.
Inaddition,thewarmthoftheparaffinbathimprovescirculation.
